Attention
consumers! High tech skimming devices are popping up at the pump. This past weekend, Tampa Police officers recovered
electronic credit card skimming chips from three Circle K/Shell gas stations located
at:
3650 South Dale Mabry Highway
The
skimming scammers installed the devices on the computer hard drives inside of the
gas pumps, making it difficult for station attendants and consumers to notice
them.
These
sly thieves may seem tech savvy, but you can outsmart their scam with these simple
safety tips:
If the pump has a security
seal make sure it hasn’t been tampered with.
Notify the attendant and police if the seal is broken
Avoid using pumps that are
out of the clerks’ view.
And
just remember you can always visit the clerk inside to pay for your gas with a
card or cold hard cash.
